Troopers Color Guard Auditions

Thank you for your interest in the Troopers Drum and Bugle Corps Color Guard! This page will provide you with a lot of information on how to audition for the color guard and what to expect at auditions. Please read carefully and make sure to check back for updates.

AUDITION DATES
Those wishing to audition for a spot in the Troopers Color Guard are highly encouraged to attend a at least one winter audition camp as well as the final audition at the end of April. The reason for this is so that potential members can learn the technique program and have all winter long to work on it. This will offer you a much better experience and help us evaluate your skill level prior to move-ins. No matter what, however, ALL individuals interested in being a part of the Troopers Color Guard MUST attend the April camp!

Audition Dates and Locations:

TBD - all dates/times will be posted after the 2010 season concludes!

Please make sure you fill out an interest form as well as a RSVP form for which camps you will be attending.

If you are unable to attend a camp and want to audition, please contact Karen Prince , Color Guard Caption Head, via email - k.prince@troopersdrumcorps.org. Alternative arrangements can be discussed at that time.

THE AUDITION PROCESS
A routine does not need to be prepared for your audition. Your skills will be evaluated while learning the technique program throughout the camp. Your training will involve learning technique in both movement and equipment and will be supplemented with choreography so that you may demonstrate how well you perform those skills combined. It is important that ALL members have a strong base of movement and flag technique. If you spin flag only, that is ok, although you may be asked to spin a weapon just so the staff can get an idea of your range of skills. If you spin rifle or sabre, you will be asked to audition on those.

Flags will be provided for everyone to spin. We spin 6 ft. flag poles with thirds.

Rifles and sabres will be provided as well, although you may bring your own if you would like. If your weapons do not match the ones we spin, you may be asked to spin with ours. We spin 37” King rifles and 39” King sabres.

Please remember to bring:

  • spinning gloves
  • tennis shoes
  • form fitting clothes/dancewear (we need to be able to see your body,
especially your feet/ankles -- no baggy clothes)
  • a POSITIVE ATTITUDE!!!

If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact please contact Karen Prince, Color Guard Caption Head, via email - k.prince@troopersdrumcorps.org.
