Scott Koter - Program Consultant

Currently an assistant principal at Kiski Area High School in Vandergrift, Pa., Mr. Koter was previously the supervisor of music and conductor for the wind and jazz ensembles. His ensembles have received numerous awards and honors performing at many state and regional conventions including the Midwest Band and Orchestra Clinic and the MENC and IAJE Eastern Conventions. He was the director of the Kiski Area High School marching Band from 1985 to 1994, winning the Bands of America (BOA) Class AA title twice.

Koter earned his undergraduate degree from Edinboro University of Pennsylvania and completed graduate studies at California University of Pennsylvania and Duquesne University, Pittsburgh. He is a member of many professional organizations including NASSP, ASCD, MENC, PAS, Phi Mu Alpha, Phi Beta Mu, IAJE and NBA. His publishing credits include PMEA Notes, Today's Music Educator and Percussive Notes. Koter has received citations for teaching excellence from PMEA, Duquesne University, St. Vincent College and has been selected to Who's Who Among American Teachers several times.

Koter served as percussion caption chairman for Drum Corps International from 1989 to 1996 and also has served on the BOA contest advisory board. He has adjudicated contests and conducted clinics and seminars on numerous music education topics in the U.S., Canada and Japan in addition to acting as program consultant for several marching bands and drum corps across the country.

Koter resides in Pittsburgh, PA with his wife Carol and children Ryan and Morgan.
