Mike Lundquist - Brass Tech (penguinjazz@verizon.net)
Mike Lundquist received his Bachelor’s degree in Music Education
and a full endorsement to teach from Central Washington University. While
there, he performed with many of Central’s award winning ensembles
and began to develop his brass teaching experience. Mike spent five years
studying trumpet and brass pedagogy with Charles Butler and John Harbaugh,
and he has taken lessons with and/or participated in master classes with,
Bobby Shew, Charlie Davis, Allen Vizzutti, and Bill Adam. Mike has been
teaching brass students privately for seven years, and has performed
professionally in a variety of settings.
Mike has been around the marching idiom for many years, having marched
in bands since high school and has been associated with drum and bugle
corps for ?the last 6 years. For the last 6 years has been involved with
the Seattle area drum corps including senior corps, Brass from the Past,
and Seattle Brass Attack. Mike has also been a brass instructor for the
last three years with the award winning Kamiak High School Show Band,
from Mukilteo, Washington. Mike is currently Directors of Bands at Kirkland
Junior High School in Kirkland, Washington. In addition to his duties
at the junior high, Mike maintains a private brass studio and plays with
orchestras and jazz groups in the Seattle area.
Mike Lundquist is a member of the Washington Music Educators Association,
the International Trumpet Guild, the International Association for Jazz
Educators, and the Music Educators National Conference.
